tagged

Gay Hudson at Sister Creek Pottery has tagged me, so here goes. Do I really have to say the rules? Hasn't everyone got that by now?
Six random things about me:
1. I once met Richard Petty at the Charlotte Speedway and had my picture taken with him in his pit area, I just think he is so cool!
2. In high school I would lay in bed at night and listen to my Alladin Sane album by David Bowie every night to fall asleep
3. The first album I ever bought was the Rolling Stones Goats Head Soup
4. I grew up in Myrtle Beach South Carolina and skateboarded every single day that I could, sometimes even in the rain
5. In my previous career as a designer, I set up furniture galleries for retail stores in every state in the country
6. Gerry and I have a climbing route named after us at Saurtown Mt. "Clean Sweep" we had the first ascent there on Christmas Eve in a light rain. It was the first overhang I ever did. I think it is still listed in the NC Climbers Guide book. When we hiked out, I ran into a rock wall and knocked myself out!

You are now tagged:
I am going to cheat a bit and tag the members of the NC Clay Club that have not yet been tagged, you know who you are, so go for it! Make your presence known, let's hear all about you. I don't know who the heck has been tagged and who has not and I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. Is that ok?!

I love your 'random' comments. I never would have thought you were a skateboarder! What fun.

Tracey - thanks for your sweet words about my webpage & glazes! My husband designed my webpage -- but it's so hard to get him to do updates though -ha-ha.

When I first started making pots I was in a community with a gas reduction kiln. I'd make my pot - leave it on a shelf, come back & it would be bisqued. Then I'd dunk in a bucket of glaze & come back & it would be fired. I felt so removed from my work. I knew I wanted that reduction look - cause I like matte, earthy glazes. My skutt kiln didn't begin to give me what I wanted at first. It's taken a long time & many glaze workshops to even get started. I have access to a gas kiln & soda kiln but I'm not interested anymore. I want to keep focused on ^6.

I think the 'glaze-quest' is an ongoing one no matter how you fire. My kiln is cooling now & hopefully I'll get a couple of glazes I like. I'll post photos tomorrow.

I'm still picturing you skateboarding! -- It's a good image!

I loved skate boarding so much, I took my board every where I went, drove my parents crazy! I still have two boards, maybe I'll get my daughter to take some pictures of me on it one of these days. I am in that community kiln situation right now. I received a grant from the Arts Council here to build my own gas kiln, just trying to get all of the funds and details worked out. Wish I had seen your ^6 first, I might have tried for a skutt instead!

My son loves to skateboard. We have a couple around here somewhere -- his snare is more important right now. Would love to see a photo of you on one of yours.
Congrats on your grant. You'll be glad you have the gas kiln.
I took a workshop with Lana Wilson - who says with gas, the kiln does all the work & with electric you have to do all the work. Ha!
