first firing complete

I think the firing went well today. It was festive anyway. So far I love this little Olympic kiln. It climbed to temp steadily and right on time every hour. No stalls no glitches. I did however forget to put a cone pack in thanks to so many Raku firings so we'll see how accurate my pyrometer is. I'm not sure I would have been able to see them anyway, the peeps are really small. I did a reduction at 06 for thirty minutes and then another at cone 9 for about forty minutes and soaked at the end for about 45 minutes. I think maybe I should have reduced for an hour but I was getting itchy to end it and have a beer! Nothing precious in there so it will be fun to see if I got any reduction at all. 14 hour day, but I learned a lot about the kiln and hopefully it will all be good.
This little guy came crawling up this afternoon. sooooo cute but oozy!

Happy 4th and best on the firing- the slug- ugh- but what a great glaze his colors and spots would make!
