Goodbye to an old friend!

Well, I have finally given up my VW Van. It has lots of long road miles on it and in need of brakes, and with so many miles, God knows what is coming up. Everything this van ever needs is expensive and it is very much a high maintenance vehicle. We bought it several years ago to drive out west and it took us almost a year to find it. They are hard to find, but even harder to keep up. We have loved it, and don't regret buying it for a minute. We took very good care of it and someone that can afford the cost will get a lot of good years out of it. I shot this one morning as we were having breakfast along the river in Yellowstone. You can just open the door, pull up the table in the back, sit back and eat while you enjoy the scenery. This was a really cool day.
Here we are at Slough Creek in the northern part of Yellowstone, What a sweet car to camp with!
Camping at Bonnaroo. The only way to go to Bonnaroo in my opinion.
And here is my new ride. A 2010 Subaru Outback. 6 speed manual transmission, very nice! I know you must think we have lost our minds trading for two new cars in a weeks time, but with interest rates as low as they are right now we are able to own two brand new cars for less than we were paying for Gerry's old Subaru and the VW. Plus we have two cars that we won't have to put money into for awhile, so we are saving a lot of $$ this way. Bob Dunn Subaru in Greensboro is definitely the place to go, see Ken Murphy, he will treat you right!!!
Raku class is coming over tomorrow for our final firing, gotta go get ready for them!

When we lived in New Mexico, we camped throughout the Southwest in a standard VW van, a 3/4-width mattress in back for us and Marcus sleeping across the floor behind the front seats. Always wanted a Vanagon or a EuroVan, but never got one. Lots of good memories, though. You'll love the Outback.

Looked like that Van WAS THE CONCERT hook-up!! Kinda sad -seems like you are growing up by getting a vehicle that is good on gas, reasonably low maintenance and nice -that's what happened to Daddy-O and I -we told each other "I can't believe we are talking about what kind of car gets good gas mileage AND is practical, what's happening to US!!"

I had a Westfalia years ago, a really old one, it was terrible in the wind, but it was convenient for camping and fishing trips; the memories some cars could tell if they spoke.

congrats on your new car, curious why did you get a manual transmission?

Hey everyone:
Hollis, I checked out your son's video, he is living the good life isn't he?! Cindy, yes, we are feeling quite grown up, most of our car decisions have not been made so wisely.
M. let's hope lots of good memories with this one too, Jim, the only way this potter got a new car is that her husband has a good job, otherwise I would be taking the bus! Linda, I went with the manual, one because most of my cars have been manual, I like the bad ass feel of driving a stick sift :) and 2nd it was on sale and a very good price, below invoice, can't beat that. Hey Tig, yes I almost cried looking at that photo from Yellowstone, it was a magical day. We saw a pack of wolf cubs just after that pic was shot.

My youngest daughter used to get so attached to our vehicles, she would cry when they sold and were driving away. Nice new ride :)
