25th Anniversary

Today is our 25th anniversary. Where did the time go? Look at those two babies! We were 24 years old. I met Gerry in college. He was in the photojournalism program and I was in the design program. I was sitting in the cafeteria with my two best friends and he walked in to the room. I told my friends that I didn't know who that was but I wanted to marry him. Ger was the hottest guy at school and all the girls were chasing him. I was a crazy girl from Myrtle Beach. All Gerry cared about was shooting pictures and playing drums for his band. He could have cared less about any girl there. I loaned him my truck one day so he could take his drums to a gig in Greensboro, I went with him and we have been together ever since. Lots of fun with this one, but it's been a wild ride and never a dull moment that's for sure! We learned to rock climb together in the Tetons with the Exum Mt. guides, learned to paddle white water on the New River, figured out how to camp comfortably after packing up many wet tents, I have watched Gerry grow in his career as a journalist, from being a stringer for the Greensboro News and Record to becoming the NC bureau photographer for the Associated Press. Gerry has been patient as my career went from a showroom designer in the furniture industry, to a sales rep for Jansport and Old Town Canoe, back to a designer for the theater, art teacher and now trying to be a full time potter. How he has put up with all this and stayed with me is incredible, I'm not easy.He has stayed the course while I have been all over the place. It's really strange that we have stayed together at all. He likes it cold, I like it hot, he likes the mountains I like the beach, he likes to stay up late, sleep late, I get up early go to bed early. We are so opposite, but somehow it works. As they say, opposites attract. We have stayed best friends for thirty years and have a beautiful child that gets more brilliant every day. Here's hoping for 25 more crazy years at least!! Thanks for the adventure Ger!!!! xoxoxo
