Some nice results from my Raku firing, in spite of the drippy ice and freezing temps. I was pretty frozen by the end of the day, but it was fun, no drama and I only lost five beads out of 100 so probably my best record yet for losses. I didn't really fire much big stuff this time, just some small dishes, beads, pendants and two sheep that came out beautifully. A new yellow came out nicely but hard to photograph. Recipe is Gertstely Borate 80 Cornwall Stone 20 and vanadium stain 6-8% I used 6% and it was very pale, may go stronger next time and see what happens, but it's very pretty.
Come on over toThe Bead Shop in Carr Mill, Carrboro this Saturday, I will be there with lots and lots of beads and pendants!

looking good and nice display.
totally cool...do you think the vanadium is worth it i did it once and eh!.. you can get nice yellows from stains now..when can we do video comments?????
Thanks Linda. video comments, what a great idea Ang!! I had some vanadium around here and I never use it so I mixed up 100g to see what would happen. I think it's a pretty yellow, but I want to try it with a larger percentage and see what happens.
Tracey - your beads (and display) look great. Good luck with sales Saturday.
I use vanadium yellow a lot & really like it. Try adding small increments of RIO -- gives more of an antique yellow.
Cool, good looking beads!
Good luck with the sale on saturday

Love the lambs too! Hope ewe have a great sale this weekend!
Hi Judy, thanks! I was going to ask if the cruet you sent me was vanadium, it is such a great yellow! Hi Anne, nice to hear from you!!!
That display is fantastic. Those raku beads will be a great seller. Oh, if the buyers knew the details behind making them. I can just see one of those sheep pulling one of your carts.
Hey Patricia and Judith, your comments came in after I left the last comment, didn't mean to leave you out of the "hello" !!
beautiful results! and very little loss, that's wonderful. using the printmakers drawer for a display is a great idea.
I LoVE the beads! The translucent turquoise is gorgeous with the crackle effect. That is such a cool display box. The sheep are awesome too. You sure had a good firing!
Sell lots :)
Look at that TREASURE TRAY! Lovely beads, I want to hold them and so will others -just as they hand over their moolah :o) Baaaaaa! Hello to the newest members of the flock. The difference in these is you glazed their heads -mine has the black Raku face and are all cute!
Beautiful! Those sheep are fun. :)
Cindy: THAT's what it is!! I kept looking at these sheep trying to figure out why they seemed different to me!! I like the black face better
Thanks all for the comments, so good to hear from all of you!!
