Nothing fancy

I've been messing around with the soft box Gerry got me and it's working out really well, so much better than the cardboard and white sheet thing I had before. I've been shooting with my point and shoot Nikon but I think I could get crisper images with Wesley's Canon, but these aren't bad for blog photos and art fair submissions. For magazines and book submissions, I think I could step it up a notch.
I'm using flat early morning light, nothing else. Using artificial light gets way to involved for my patience.

These are all shot with natural light, nice and flat, no glare, soft shadow, but I should let the pro in the house have a go at it and get some really nice images!

Hey you three I was just reading your blogs! Ang, I just got some poster board at the craft shop, works fine for the small stuff. The box came with backgrounds of red, blue, black and white, all ugly and all very wrinkled!

The soft look works well with your surfaces.

No doubt Gerry could do a great job, too, but these all look pretty good. The natural light works just fine if you use a long exposure and the camera's on a tripod.

That looks really good with the natural light. If you have a piece of glossy foam core board or something similar yoy can set it to the right side of the piece facing it and it will bounce some of that light onto the dark side.

your pictures look great for not using any additional lighting! when we photograph work it means setting up the dining room table with our roll down back drop... makeshift lighting and diffuser assemble- quite a process and the house looks a mess.
some years ago my brother built a light box and we shared it... we could set it up in the glazing area and shoot pics.

Hey Brandon, good suggestion, I have also used aluminum foil before, didn't even think of bouncing some light. Michele, we sued to do the same thing,Gerry got out all his lights, we moved everything in the living room and you couldn't even walk around. This is so much easier. I have a photog friend with a studio in Greensboro when I need some really nice studio shots now. I'm not doing it in my house anymore, way too much trouble!

Tracey,

I love that light box. Is that the Giotos St 120? What are the dimensions? It looks bigger than the 19.5" I see listed. Been enjoying your blog.

Nice soft box! I need to get one of those. Can you tell me where Gerry got it and any other details that would help me find (and order) one like it? Thanks!
