THANK YOU! to Lark Books for including me in the 500 Raku book and for so generously sending me a complimentary copy!!! This is a great Raku book and if you are at all interested in Raku I highly recommend getting it. I will try to take some pictures of more of the pages but right now my to do list keeps getting longer and longer and my days are so short!
it's the green pear again, this may be the last I ever say about this thing!
Here is a new one that I am in love with, and one of my favorite vases from the firing yesterday.
I made three pears, one with chartreuse terra sig and two were Raku fired. I have managed to break the stem off of all three so I am using mixed media for these, they actually look better this way. These things are way beyond my skills of photographic lighting, and Gerry just laughed when he saw them, so this is the best I got. My husband is not a big fan of illustration photography, mostly because of lighting nightmares like this. Maybe when he sees what a mess I made he will feel sorry for me and light them properly, or I could just whine about it a lot until he gives in...... they are really beautiful in person though, one of the best Raku firings I have had. They are just so shiny and metallic that I can't get a true photo of them, they are reflecting everything in the room, even in a totally dark space. I need a pro for this one!

I don't know, Tracey. Maybe my standards are too low, but they sure look good to me from here. I'm not totally wedded to that business of elminating all hot spots from shiny glazes. You certainly make good pots a whole lot faster than I do.
I'll second what Hollis said. The pots look great. Also, congrats on the spot in the book. I'm glad to hear Lark is now giving the featured Artists a book. I don't think it was always that way.
i love the 500 books, and WOW your in it, congrats!!!
Congrats on being in the 500 books series!! I've always loved that pear.
And I agree with Hollis - those pictures are great -- don't worry bout the 'hot-spots.'
Sweeet pear! (the new one) ... and the pot ain't bad either!
Thanks you guys. Remember I live with a professional photographer so he sees all the little "issues". My biggest problem was this square block that was the reflection of the wall behind me, I couldn't get rid of it no matter what I did. I see it there, guess if you weren't in the room, it's not that noticeable!
Congrats on having your work included in the Lark book. I'll have to get a copy! Your raku pieces look great. Now I'm longing to do a firing!
congratulations tracey, yay! i like both pears, maybe the new one more but maybe 'cause it's new. the pics don't look bad to me but maybe living with a photographer keeps your quality standards way up there
Congrats on the Lark publication, the new pear is wonderful too, I like it for diferent reasons than the other and I like it pictured with the pot, very nice photo.
Congratulations Tracey!
I've always dreamed of getting into one of those, but I'll enthusiastically settle for enjoying a shared happy Dance with friends that make it in!
Happy Dance!
Congratulations, I now have another reason to buy that book. I really do like the glaze on the new pear & pots.
Girl!! That crackle!!! Your new pear outshines your old one by a mile. Beautiful.
BRAVO TRACEY! Am so happy for you!
If they are truly more beautiful in the flesh I don't know that I could handle the experience. They are stunning!
Those pears are beautiful and the mixed media stems are the perfect touch. I'm so happy for you for being published. Your blog is an "inspiration" for me!!!
hmmmm metalic is always hard to light.....love the dark window on the last piece.. noice!!
Hi everyone, thanks so much for the comments! nice to see some new folks posting, I have new blogs to read, yay!
That's awesome! Good for you Tracey!
Beautiful new work! I love the mix media approch with the pears, and that metallic glaze is perfect for them. I feel your pain with the lighting issues, I need a better setup, or a bigger budget for hiring someone else to photograph my work.
Congrats on the 500 Raku! I have a friend who is also in this book, so I will definitely be grabbing a copy asap!
i am liking that new pear better than the one in the book... and the one in the book looks damn good too...
i feel like this new pear has more "life" than the other... but that's just me talkin' :-)
Thanks Deb and Liz, Michele I agree with you, I haven't seen that photo in a while and compared to the new one it looks sort of dated to me, this new one seems fresher....
wow- congrats! and those pendants from another post. I will definitely come and visit. I want one! So glad you are doing your own thing- that's what it's all about, isn't it? (not conforming to the art others want!)
Congrats on being published! The new pieces are stunning.
