Gettin' there....

These two boys are very sweet, they're smart, funny and mostly work hard. They are doing a good job, but lord have mercy! Why don't we drag out a project as long as we possibly can....
Nothing got done today, too much partying last night (not me, them) and I had two boys less than motivated to stay on task today. After I walked down and saw them sitting on the bench singing a song together while having a smoke break, I just told them to go home. I am getting a bit testy, there is too much clutter, I have no place to work, I have four shows coming up and nothing is made and my work space is dependent on these two crazy boys. All that is left is the roof and windows, but tomorrow we are supposed to have rain and possible tornadoes. At least my roof won't get blown off since these fools haven't got a roof done yet!
There is a lot more drama to this story but I'll spare you all the details. This roller coaster day ended like this: My 80 year old mom recently married this very handsome, very kind man and today after I told off these fools at my house, I got a letter from him with a check to help cover the costs of my building. A very nice check, and I am speechless. Now I can put in electricity and I may add a shed roof on the side for more work space!!
AND! the BEST news of all: Today Wesley got her acceptance letter to the University of North Carolina School of the Arts Film program!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whew! I need a nap...........

i hate to add fuel to the fire but...the hurricane ties(metal things) they're installing are supposed to go on the outside of the wall. unless the roof pitch is really low those tabs won't hold the whole rafter. there needs to be 6 nails through the tie into the rafter, the way they have them installed they might be lucky to only get two in. now if you have trusses with horizantal bottoms then it's fine.

sorry to bring it up but i'm sure you'd be even more pissed if the wind took your roof off.

Great news about the cash influx and Wesley's acceptance. No matter who was putting your building up, there is always a snag or two.It took 5 months to get my electric in last year.Good Luck.

Hey Brandon, the roof pitch is really low, cheap kit, but it'll do for what I want right now. And yes there are trusses with horizontal bottoms. Right now I am just going for a roof and 4 walls! Dennis, 5 months for electric! Yikes :)

I guess there has to be some let-downs given how excited you were/are to finally be getting your studio. It will all work out eventually…you gott'a take the long view to get through these challenges. It IS great that Wes gets the school/program she wanted. That is a big positive for you both right now.

Yep, what a day! Not really a let down, just a minor aggrevation mostly my fault because I am sooo impatient.

How exciting that Wesley got her acceptance letter. Good thing you had some really cool stuff happen today to counter the poopy stuff.

Woohoo - extra cash is always good - what a sweetie! And congrats to Wesley -- and to you cause she'll still be close & that's always good too!
Construction is aggravating! And watching it happen without being able to do it yourself can make you crazy -- but it will all happen! Can you find a spot to work on your show stuff? That might help you not feel so much pressure . . . hope the wind & rain passes quickly!
