Save water drink beer

Hollis had a comment on my last post that you could tell these guys were real because one of them had on a shirt that said save water drink beer. I have worked with a LOT of carpenters, painters, and paper hangers over the years and the one true thing is you cannot count on a lot of them to work on Saturday. Its a 50/50 chance that they will show up. I knew my guys were not showing up today when they started drinking beer on Friday at 1pm. To their credit, I did get a call before noon today to say they were still sort of in party mode and would not be here, but I needed to make sure I covered up the wood because it is going to rain tomorrow. I lived with a man for the first 19 years of my life that was 50/50 on showing up on Saturdays so I'm pretty used to it. If it taught me anything, it taught me tolerance for people who abuse alcohol and drugs and patience and knowledge that I can count on myself, maybe can't count on anyone else, but I show up. So I got a lot of work done today all by myself. With one exception....
Wesley and Tyler joined me for lunch while I put glazier points in the window panes and added new caulk. The panes were about to fall out, but they are good to go now. For $1 each, I'll do a little work. Then Gerry and Wesley brought all of the roofing and siding down from the driveway and we got it all covered up. It is supposed to rain on Sunday, this is good, it will force me to take a break. I'm going to cook a big Sunday dinner and just chill around here with the family. Back to work first thing Monday! The little cup Wes is drinking from is one of Aaron Weaver's, a Mark Hewitt apprentice. It is the greatest little cup, wish I had bought more.
Rest tomorrow, not blog post, check back Monday!

When your studio is up, creatively blessed, filled with artful projects pouring out the door you will look back on that wonderful picture of Wes and your pup and cherish it knowing that was just the beginning of great art making to come. What a wonderful image of serenity.

we once delt with two drunk sheetrock guys and one of them's wife and 3 year old.
The 3 year old was the brain's of the operation.... I was close to killing one of them- so good luck and you might need me and my hammer...!!!

It will turn out great, Tracey. No question. And the beer drinkers will no doubt be back and you'll all do a great job.

Well at least your crew was honest and you got a call.
I'm sure you know it will all work out in the end and you will have a wonderful place to create . Be sure you christen it with a six pack or two of beer. ;>

Congrats with your lovely studio. So nice to see it taking shape, and what a beautiful place to be amongst the trees. Building and beer are curious companions...! I guess that the crew are better to sleep if they are really hung over, otherwise windows might become doors and all sorts of muddles made.

it'll be all together before you know it. i was struck by the pic of wes and the pup but mostly because i'm envious of that wooded area behind them. seems like an ideal setting for a little workshop
