COLOR

Gerry went around shooting really beautiful landscapes in Maine, sunrises and full moon rises. I will show you some of them if I ever get the photos off of his Mac. I shot the plates of food we ate and the paint colors of all the walls I came across! Such inspiration for my barns. So much color my head feels like it will explode!

I got an email today from the Carolina Designer Craftsman Guild, and I have been accepted for their Thanksgiving show as a provisional member. I guess that means they want to see if I can behave myself. I guess that means I have to behave myself. I had a little talk with myself tonight and decided to get all of this inspiration out of my head for just a little while and focus on a clear and professional plan for the upcoming fall. I am applying for my third year to Festifall, which I love, that will be September I think, then the CDC show in November and I am now a member of the Chatham Artists Studio tour so I will have that the first two weeks in December. This is no time to be wanting to develop a blue and white tableware set! Although that is what has been in my head all week and paralyzing me. Now is the time to come up with plans for a professional looking INDOOR booth, loving that! and step up the barns a bit, since they are what's taking me to the party. But they are getting ready to grow up so they better look out!

I just love this child. I have a really funny video of her that shows what a truly odd child I have raised (but in a good way), I'll get that posted some time this week....

I love those colors as well and somewhere in my maine pictures I have some old barn/building shots.
Aren't those old buildings just lovely and I do love the contrast of board to paint- weathered.
The dinnerware set in your head is your minds way of distracting you from what really needs to be done. I know because this is happening to me right now. I want to sew some things so bad but I know that now is not the time. So quiet down you brain cells and let me work.

Yum, the colors are inspiring! Love your comment about your daughter. Reminds me of my artist son. Always marched to the beat of his own drum, pretty much insisted on it. I love talking with him and feel so lucky to have such a creative, funny, compassionate man for a son. These days, my husband and I often shake our heads in wonderment and say to each other, "Where did he come from? How did we make this human?" I guess the bottom line is that we didn't really make him. There's no way.... I'm rambling now... Hope you're having a great day!

I have to say, whenever I see a great old barn now I think of you! LOVE all these, and did you notice the old houses that are connected to the barn in the back? LOVE those in Maine. (The perfect pottery studio, connected to the house for ease of entrance in the Winter but not so connected that your house gets, er, dusty(er)!

Can't wait to see the barns that come out of this trip...and the blue and white dinnerware too. :)

Congrats on being accepted. I've always heard that well behaved women rarely make history.

Meredith, I could just feel that you were in a similar place, I do need some quiet brain cells right now! Patricia, Gerry and I shake our heads a lot too, saying where did she come from! She is definitely marching down a different path. Anna, I did see the barns attached to the houses, so funny, makes for a really huge house. I could have photographed barns all day long, but the red one is about the only one Gerry stopped the car for :)

Wonderful pictures....the colors and textures are awesome. Congrats on the show...but I'm with Lori...being too well behaved is waaaaay overrated!

Hey Lori and Jody: I have a hat with that quote, soooo true! Laura, Wes wears that bead every day, and mine goes with the yak bone pendant I got in NY so well! We love them.

Tracey, there's an old New England children's rhyme that goes something like "big house, little house, back house, barn." It's about the connected buildings on an old New England farm, made that way so that in the nasty midwinter you could go from your bedroom to milking cows without ever stepping out into the snowstorm. Just thought of that ...

Hey Hollis, what a cool story. I would definitely be attaching my barn if I had to go out in that cold weather! I can barely take the dog out in the winter :)
