To Do:

Happy 11-11-11 !!
Lots to do today, the photographer from the News and Observer is coming out and I have a very long To Do list. I made one last night!
I go to bed, lay there forever going over my mental list of things to do, toss around for hours, finally fall asleep around 2 or 3am then the neighbors rooster crows at 5am, and I start the mental list again until I get up around 7 or 7:30am. Not much sleep going on and some days I really feel it. Lack of energy, lack of motivation. Maybe once a week I will take a Tylenol pm, just to get at least one night of sleep.
Last night, I started that list as soon as I got in bed and I knew what was coming. I got up, found my clip board and started writing down all that I still need to do. What do you know.... I fell asleep by, I think, 10pm and woke up at, no list in my head last night or this morning, it was all on paper. I like this!
I was just messing around with some of the scraps of wood I have from the barns and these little houses. These will be great for a less costly item that isn't a pendant or an ornament. I'm digging the mixed media, it gives me just one more creative outlet and keeps me from getting bored with the production aspect of work.
UNC TV did a story last night on the Carolina Designer Craftsmen show. I'm really worried that I don't have enough work and I'm a bit intimidated by the list of artists this year. My booth is on the same aisle with Gay Smith and Jennifer Mecca, talk about trying to measure up! Oh well, it is what it is, I'm doing the best I know how, as my friend Meredith so wisely puts it :)

you have a certain flare with mixed media in your work. I like your sensibilities with it and how you put it all together. Also your work stands proudly next to those other gals and everyone else there. We'll be there to stand in your booth and oooh and ahhhh.

I was going to recommend writing down your list but you figured that out yourself. The wood works really well with your barns. It sounds like you're in good company at the show. Best of luck.

I've definitely found writing down a list helps me sleep!

Love the little houses on barnwood.

The same jury that accepted their work accepted yours too. Don't feel intimidated....feel proud.

Yup you discovered the secret to sleep. WRITE THE LIST DOWN. I do it all the time right before I turn out the light. It's just like journaling. :)

You will do GREAT at the show. Your barns are so spectacular. Have a blast with it!!!

(And I love the new little mixed media pieces. I'd buy one. :)

I make lists, lists and more lists -as I cross off the items I am happy to crinkle up and TOSS them in the recycle! whew!

Your work is more than worthy and hopefully this show will have the audience who will appreciate your skilled originality. The barns are looking sweet! As for attending a big show, I love a line that my husband's college football coach used to say to his athletes after a touch down "for goodness sakes son, act like you've been there before!"

Gay is very nice, she won't mind that you're there. You shouldn't mind that she is there either. You both make gorgeous stuff.

Your stuff is just as good as theirs, just different, that's all! Wish I could be there to cheer you all on.
If you like the Hibiscus II print, would you be willing to do a trade? Let me know... drop me an email.

Camil, no habla espanol :)

Thanks! Unfortunately I don't have anything to trade right now, I'm hoarding all of my work to get me through these shows!
