House+Bottle=Vase

Thanks everyone for your comments on my last post. Lots of good ideas for vases. Today bottles and vases seemed to be on the minds of several bloggers. I tried out several ideas for incorporating a vase with my house shapes. I didn't want to do the hole in the roof or the flower brick look, there are several people doing similar things and I don't want to tread too close to what someone is already doing.I also tried just leaving the roof off, but it looked too incomplete. I wanted something that spoke to what I am doing with my house shapes without being contrived or cute. I have these really great glass bottles, and at first I thought about gluing them on, and then decided to just make them a part of the house with clay. Dennis sparked this idea with his comment about a chimney. I liked that idea and still might try something like that, but the long skinny bottle shape sort of looks like the side of a chimney and I like incorporating this shape. I have a collection of glass bottles and I am always drawn to them, so they seem to fit with what I have going on in my head. A nice little vase for wildflowers to dry in..... or feathers..... or sticks.....  lots to explore with this.

there was a magical sunset behind my studio this evening, good day, lots of new ideas!

That works so well. You've not only kept the house in your style but the addition of the vase fits on there perfectly, like the dolls and the door knobs...excellent.
