Brown and Green

Wesley and I were pretty much sloths yesterday. We played video games, ate, she wrote, I played more video games..... it's so nice to have her home for spring break, I am taking advantage of every moment she is here. I did manage to bake some oatmeal cookies and we picked up some props for the film she will be shooting when she gets back to school. Haven't touched a thing in my studio though. In my own defense, I am waiting for the commission I have to dry so I can apply the terra sig, so I'm not really wasting too much time :)
I like these house shaped trellises. Inspiration for later!!!
It was looking like another day of wallowing on the sofa, so I packed up a lunch of veggie wraps and rice chips, and we went over to Duke Gardens for a little vitamin D. If you have not been to the Duke Gardens in Durham, NC, I suggest making plans for a spring lunch date soon. It was still a bit brown and green but there were hints of pink every now and then and of course there were daffodils peaking out. My pal Laura works nearby, lucky her, she gets to walk around here every day for lunch! Sorry we didn't call, Laura, but it was a last minute thing, trying to keep us from being marsh mellow brains today:)
So here are a few pretty pictures from our day. In case you haven't noticed, I have been holding back a bit on the blogging. It isn't that I have nothing to say, it's just that I don't know how to say all that could very easily spew out here if I'm not careful. So I have decided to just keep it pleasant for awhile until I simmer down and get out of this weird head space I'm in......

We had lunch by the pond and watched the ducks and turtles, and then found several other little hide a ways throughout the garden, near ponds, and running water, and just sat for brief moments enjoying the sounds.......
The Asian Garden is my favorite, I most love the black bamboo there.....
You can attend formal tea ceremonies in this little tea house. I think there is one for Mother's Day, wouldn't that be a fun thing to do with your kids?
peace ya'll.............

Hey Tracey. Even you holding back on blogging puts most of us to shame! You seem to be doing the right things, sometimes there's no way out of these funks without just letting them blow over. Gaming and then a bit of nature and family seems a pretty healthy balance. I do look forward to you blowing your stack again at some point though!!! 'Serene Tracey', or 'Ranting Tracey', they're both cool with me. : )

Kelly, I know, black bamboo is amazing, I have a friend that made brushes with it, very cool. Lori, it is a really nice garden and house, so peaceful, I would like to attend one of the tea ceremonies there one day, but apparently it gets pretty crowded and that would sort of take away from the experience for me, I'm afraid.
Thanks smartcat, glad you like reading!

ok, i need to add the gardens to my list of "must sees" in my new state. The Asian garden looks beautiful. One of my favorite things at the MFA in Boston is the Japanese Temple that they have inside the museum. It's so peaceful to inside with the big Buddha, makes it hard to move on and see the rest of the museum.

Hi Susan, Wesley is an exact blend of me and Gerry, you are so right!
Michele, definitely check out the Duke gardens in the spring, pack a lunch and take the day off to enjoy some beauty!
Amy, that's a perfect description of Wes, quiet solitude, maybe she is a sloth haha!
