Sea Zen

Here's a short video from my weekend with my art friends. So much art, no clay, mostly watercolor and fiber, but very inspiring all the same. I highly recommend finding some place in your life to go away for a couple of days with artists that you know and respect. There is nothing like it to open your mind to new ideas. I went to the beach with an empty mind, I took no art, no projects, I didn't read. I just observed. I watched my beautiful 18 year old interact with older, wiser women, I watched my talented friends move water and paint around on thick paper, I watched a new friend create magic with a needle, yarn, and felted wool, I read a book of poetry made by one of these friends, I listened to conversations about fears and accomplishments, food, family, past experiences, I ate food prepared by my friends for me, I walked in the rain and listened to the ocean, I watched the sand blow across the beach, I shed self doubt on the beach in a talk with myself, I made a lot of pictures to remember the layers and textures of the rainy days there on Topsail, and I was so grateful to be there and to be so inspired by these other women in my life. So talented, so strong, so wise, so funny. I am truly blessed.......
enjoy the video!

Loved that little snapshot of your time at the beach. And I loved the song. Did Wesley write that? Beautiful soundtrack.

The beach is so inspiring and every time I go there I want to stay. I guess people feel the same way when they visit the mountains. It so great to get away, but also nice to come home.

Hey Michael, yeah Wesley wrote that song some time ago, one of my favorites! you are so right, the beach and the mountains. Luckily I live about three hours from both, so I can visit often!

Ang, I know what you mean about the guitar thing, it's deliberate, but in a not deliberate way, ya know?! Yes, the mittens, they are amazing, I'll talk more about them later...... thanks for the good wishes!

A friend of mine is planing to host retreats like this at her farm in central GA. It's so exciting to see how much you gained from the experience.

Well, I left a comment for you guys and it went away?!
Anyway, Judi, Figure Eight, yes, I always think of it as the place John Edwards ran away to haha!
Patricia, girls need their friends, and I have some great ones!
Lori, I think that sounds like a fantastic idea, definitely go if she offers. You absorb sooo much!
