Afternoon light

I love the light around here in the afternoon....
This was my grandmother's birdhouse, then it was at my mom's for a long time, and now I have it. It probably came from Seagrove at least 50 years ago.

There's my man walking off work stress at the end of the day on his slack line. His own little zen practice....

There is my child's haul from the thrift store and her birthday......
and little baby apples from the farm..... sniff......sigh.......

and there is the end of my week. Lots done at the end of it, to make up for the slack days earlier in the week. I got quite a bit thrown on the wheel today, even though I was rusty, it came right back. I made some tumblers and some bowls and a vase. Very tired at the end of the day today, cleaned all of my tools and my studio and closed up shop for the weekend. Have a good one everyone!

No, I keep telling people I am the Slack, family name, potter!
Really it's me.
I could use some Zen or a brownie!

That's quite a stack of books. I love Cormac McCarthy. Esp. Blood Meridian. I don't know why, maybe the language, but it's gruesome in parts.

Slack line looks good, too! I could use one.

Have a great weekend off!

Hey MK, Wesley has been reading Cormac since high school, she is a huge fan. All The Pretty Horses would be my favorite:)
Yeah, the slack line, I haven't been able to walk it yet, much harder than Gerry makes it look!

Love the bird house, that's the first one I've ever seen like that.

Hey Paul, seems like long ago lots of people down in Seagrove were making these, don't see them that much anymore. I have been thinking of trying one out, maybe I'll start making birdhouses....

I was taking some early morning pictures in my booth on Sunday and thinking about you and your afternoon light. Shadows can be our best friends.

Great stack of books, some great reads in there.

Slack line... wow, never heard of that. Must be a climbers' term. Very cool, and what a great picture of Gerry. The light in all of your photos is so warm and inviting. Such a delightful post to end the week. I hope your weekend was wonderful.

Hi all, sorry I am a bit behind on replies, life just getting in the way! I will post some bowl pics when I get a chance, and yes the light! It's amazing around here in the afternoons, just love it. Lori, my girl is a great resource for reading materials! Patricia, A lot of climbers use these slack lines, some are setting up lines across very high spaces, way too scary to even watch. Gerry has great balance so this is really easy for him, I can't even get on the thing!
