Why Not?

Meredith Heywood at Whynot Pottery in Seagrove brought this doll to me before Christmas last year along with a few others. This one, I believe, was her toy as a child. Meredith you can correct me if I am wrong :)  I have already used some of what she brought me, the cello player was requested a couple of weeks ago, and yes, Allison, I have it made, and will fire it this week!
I had a few ideas for this doll that never quite worked out, but this is it. I made the one with the legs the other day on a whim, and today said, "why not make one with the body too?" and now I am sort of obsessed with the idea of things in chairs, on beds..... why not? What goes better with houses than furniture?!
I have enjoyed having this little one around, but it's time to go, it has the right "home" now!

I like these because they could either be sold as a set or separately, but I think best together, so the poor child has her legs around, just in case..... I have the arms too, so I just might make a third one.  Why not?! They just make me laugh out loud!
I have twenty houses made, one for the NC Pottery Center auction donation, one for the cello player, and the rest for Lark and Key. Probably not all of them will go but at least I will have some good pieces to choose from.
I also have twenty pieces made for the ^6 redux firing next week with my pal Barbara. Sooo, since last Wednesday I have made all of this. I know forty two pieces seems lame to you production pros out there, but just try making twenty of these houses in six days and see how you feel about slab work! I am tired! Terra sig goes on tomorrow and then firing this week. Fingers crossed, that's a lot of hard work there.....

Still like the one with the legs. Sort of a mobile home as it were. Just taking a break in the chair. For having been so frustrated you have gotten a lot done! Keep rolling.

I agree with Dennis. The House O'Legs still makes me smile.

I love them the House O'Legs and Torso- Creepy and very intriguing. They stick in my head in a really good way. It may of taken you a while to get there Tracey but when you do, you really pull it out the bag! :)

Agree with Cat's Ceramics on the creepy/intriguing nature of these, I would add provocative and playful at the same time. I think it is a very interesting direction for your work where it becomes more explicitly "sculpture." Just sayin.
