That time again....

It's that time again, sitting in front of the TV every morning watching the tour instead of going out in the 90 degree weather. Then, the olympic trials come on the station after that so we sort of get sucked in to the gymnastics, track and swimming, and then it's time to make some juice for lunch, maybe run some errands or wash dishes or clothes or the dog, then it's time to start planing dinner.....any excuse to not work in my very hot studio, I'm afraid. I really have to get back to work, I have a couple of commissions waiting on me and a show that will be here before I know it!
So sad to hear the news today that Andy Griffith had died. Wes and I went to breakfast with Gerry as he was on his way to the bureau this morning and then he got a call that Andy had died and he was to go to Mt. Airy to go shoot some Mayberry stuff. The Andy Griffith Show is my all time favorite show. My dad lived in Walnut Cove and Mt. Airy when he was a boy and lived next door to Andy. They were friends and played together. Too bad there aren't any shows made like this anymore. Too bad there aren't more men with the honesty and morals of Andy running our government.........

Love Le Tour! and love Andy. I introduced the girls to The Andy Griffith Show last year. It's still great after all these years and the many reruns.

Yes, one of my Favorite times of the year, watching the Tour.
I'm sorry to see that Andy Schleck is out this year, he is really being denied every year for some reason isn't he?
And Thor Hushovd is out as well, making the sprints a little less exciting, although that Peter Sagan is something for such a young rider. He lacks experience though as we saw in stage two, where the veterans shut the door on him with ten seconds left to race. As long as Cav is able to go, he can't be beaten, but I wonder if he will get many opportunities this year, as Sky are committed to Wiggins for GC, so Cav will have to go it alone to win. Oh well, always fun and more fun.
Yes, it would be nice if we had more men with the integrity of Sheriff Taylor in government. In reality, they are more like Griffith's character in "A Face in the Crowd." I think Griffith was so good in that movie...

I was sorry to hear the news of Andy's death yesterday. I still love watching the show in reruns. He produced an honest and comic depiction of small town life in that era and I don't think critics caught up to how good he and Don Knotts and the rest of the cast were until much later.
And we'll be sitting down watching the Tour at least a few mornings for the next couple of weeks. Though, in fact, I should probably be on my bike rather than my chair ...

Dee says to tell you thank you for posting this, Trace.
"I love Andy Griffith," was her comment.

i can't comment about the tour, since i don't watch sports and don't have cable or satellite for tv... BUT i did watch Andy Griffith in my youth and always enjoyed it. He made a big impact, in a positive way, to television.

ha! I'm sure I'm tuning in "late," but I love the cobwebbed house. As someone who keeps cobwebs around just because they look cool and may have spiders, the picture can be taken many ways. A good run for Matlock (forever changed for me since the Simpsons took it on); I've had Andy's whistling in my head all day.
