Minor distractions

I picked up my loom Tuesday night and it is now snuggled in to it's new room. Gerry is off for a few days after storm coverage and election coverage so between him and the loom, I have some minor clay distractions. But that's ok. I think I have enough work made for the upcoming shows, if not, I'll just take orders :) for now I just want to sit here and enjoy the view!!
I am also distracted by some new designs I'm working on. The houses/barns I have been making are still floating about in my head, but I'm getting bored, I can practically make them with my eyes closed now, so it's getting time to move on, challenge myself, try some new things. I am interested in mostly the silhouette of house and barn forms and I want them to become more abstract in their meaning. I'm sort of getting there. The one above is from my seeing The Cider House Rules recently and loving the apple picking ladders and the cider house itself. I want to explore this more..... maybe just keep it all white terra sig, or maybe smoke fire it....
Also working on some wall pieces. I am starting to wonder if people might be more interested in a piece they can hang on the wall rather than table top pieces, so I'm working on some house forms that can go on the wall, adding some found objects.
If you like the little white houses, better come get one, I see their future dimming.....
I have so many ideas for weaving projects as well, but I have to learn to crawl before I can walk there. I want to make some book covers and add clay pieces, incorporate house forms with weaving for wall pieces, so many many things to do, when will I ever sleep!!!!

No need to sleep Tracey! I know how you feel. So many things to create in this world! I can't wait to see what you do with your loom! I see you already have the start to a beautiful piece! Rock it.

actually there are two scarves on the loom right now that I am finishing up from my class. Can't wait to get them off the loom and start a new project! Yep, who needs sleep, we can sleep when we die, haha!

I see that pretty cushion in the foreground...do you have a bench for the loom? Make sure you feel that you are sitting correctly/at the right height at the loom on whatever you choose. You want to avoid back and neck issues. :) I'm so excited to see where you take this!

Who said; We'll sleep when we're dead? Was it Guns and Roses or maybe Bon Jovi ........ who cares!
Works for those of us excited about life.

Love the wall pieces!! and Wes is going to look great in a scarf :)

Hey Anna: the cushion is an upholstered bench, nice and comfy for long hours at the loom :)
Sandy, no idea who said it, but it stays in my head since I have mostly insomnia. Yes, scarves for winter at college!

LOVE the ladder! so many metaphors there. Also like the house breaking down in to slabs and shapes in 2-dimensions, the way you're going back and forth. Fertile ground.....

Haven't you added ladders in the past? They do seem to show up in new ways whenever you're ready to change. They are a really great addition to what you're doing also.

Hey, Meredith, gonna have to wait awhile to be wowed, Im afraid! Baby steps right now...
Shannon, yes indeed fertile ground, the ladders can be symbolic for sooo many things can't they?
Lori, interesting observation about the ladder, all subconscious on my part, but interesting to think about where that's coming from.... Hmmmm.

wow, what a great loom. And I hear what you're saying about getting bored. Me too! Every now and then I'm thinking about what different is around the corner.

Isn't amazing how life just keeps giving us new ideas and new ways to play with them? And new things to learn? I know that's how I feel with wheel throwing now.

I love your house with the ladder, and the idea of combining media with weaving.

Having fun and creating, what could be better?
