Show booth and a few thoughts....

First of all, like many of you bloggers, I want to just say that the folks up north are in my thoughts and prayers, and a special wish for all things to be better for my blogger friend Judi Tavill. Hope you are warm and dry soon, Judi!!! xoxo
Yesterday, in a very blustery wind, I worked on my booth for the CDCG show. Last year my bff Susan Wells loaned me her booth furniture and it was beautiful, easy to set up and very much appreciated. However, I have to set up alone this year and I wanted something very easy, very light and easy to transport in a Subaru wagon. I bought two folding hollow doors at the Habitat store for $10, got some black paint and made this display table. Easy to transport, light weight and will store easily. Perfect!
The table covering is a drop cloth from the paint dept. at Home Depot, and this all sits on a folding table that I made risers for with PVC pipe.
What could be simpler? Once I get it set up in the booth, displayed and lit properly, it's going to look pretty cool. I'm using some boxes and crates that I have around the house for props to add to the rustic look of my barns and to give customers some idea of how they might display these in their home. I like the overall look of this a lot, but I like the easy set up the best!

This one (my child) loves Halloween soooo much and for the second year she wasn't home with us. Last year she had to crew and this year she had classes. We had sort of a pre Halloween celebration together the weekend before, but I was worried that she would have a crappy Halloween. No one at school seemed to have a plan that didn't include alcohol and she doesn't like parties where there are a bunch of drunk people, so she was going to spend the night alone. Luckily a friend of hers had an assignment to shoot a film that night, and invited her to come along. Guess where they ended up? At a pottery studio in Winston Salem filming a documentary.
Only a potter would be in the studio on Halloween night, haha!
I love that my kid was at a pottery studio on Halloween night filming a documentary, so perfect!! and then I got an email from her saying how interesting she found documentary work. Uh oh... that college loan will never get paid off if she becomes a documentary film maker, but she could change lives!

Thoughts and prayers for all of you today. I'm so thankful to be warm and dry.....
peace ya'll
xo

i like the simplicity of your booth- the blue and white. do take a photo of the booth in action.
and regarding your documentary film maker's financial future...i know the feeling-i think Blue would be a wonderful teacher... they'll be happy and doing good, right?

hollow core doors are great for booth components, that's what our walls are made of. You are smart to go simple, setting up a booth is so much work and even more so if you are doing it alone.

If you're afraid that she will end up making documentaries, tell her to watch "Crimes and Misdemeanors" again!

it is funny to me that you need a new booth for each show- all shows are not created equal- we find that it does help to set up the booth so we know what the heck we are doing when we get there. I would love to have you design a booth for us, could be another anvenue for you...
As far as your girl-that one is going to go far- I just know it.

I think you've got the right idea with this set up. I see too many pottery booths that are either too busy (the booth, not the work) or just tables and everything is flat which doesn't look good either. You'll appreciate the ease when it's time to break down and you're tired.

wow, what wisdom your girl has! college can be so tough; great to hear that she's listening to her strong inner center. yes, I can't even seem to imagine what it's like for so many affected by the hurricane. I just want to leave town and help.... and you're so creative with the display stuff. that has me thinking a bit....
