Time for myself

All I have been doing for the past few weeks is focusing on making work, pricing work, packing work, unpacking work and selling work. So, Monday I spent a little time with Wesley before she went back to school. Yesterday I spent the day with my friend Barbara, buying good coffee, eating good food, visiting some local shops and galleries and then ended the day with a Highland Winter Ale from the brewers in Asheville. And today, I spent the day with my loom!

I finished up two scarves and a sort of scarf that ended up being too short, so it's now a table runner, although Gerry took it off the table and wrapped it around his neck to sit on the porch this afternoon. It's too short!
What I'm learning about weaving is that math is important so I have to figure out how to deal with that. And the yarn you choose is important. I need to learn more about yarns. But what I do know is I definitely have a crush on weaving right now, and hope to spend some time between now and Christmas just weaving. This will be the last weekend of the tour and then I am done with clay until the new year. Let me know if you want something, I'll ship it out, but I'm not making any more pieces for awhile. I'm weaving.......

ohhhhhhhh.....I'm LOVIN' these colors Tracey....and jealous of the lucky recipients of your scarves! I know you're looking forward to the many meditative hours this winter lost in the magic of yarn and weaving.

Thanks Jody, I have one of these wrapped around me right now and it is very warm. Still need to work on size, they are quite large! But cozy!

Your woven work looks so gorgeous! Colours, textures...beautiful!
Me too, I hope to be able to do other things than clay this month:)

Oh Tracy! you are a truly natural artisan. A skilled craftsperson who can change mediums and turn her skills from stunningly decorative to functional beauty with spectacular results!

The wonderful textures you incorporate into your weaving will make the results unique and highly sought after, I'm sure!
Happy, happy weaving :)

And me, I need to check my spelling before I send. Sorry - I meant to write Tracey (forgot the 'e')
That's me getting too excited! :)

Hi Erin, I visited your blog, so glad you left a comment, I love the pieces on your blog! Thanks for the comment.
Hi Vicki, you are so kind! Anything to keep my hands busy I suppose, and keep from being bored! And yes, I need to spell check more often myself, haha! It will be nice when my weaving quality catches up to my pottery skills!

I am drawn to textiles but since I seem to have a brain block when it comes to math I am better off to purchase other peoples woven objects! Your first attempts look great, be they scarves or table runners... I happen to love a great looking table runner.

Michele, I'm sitting here right now trying to do this math for two more scarves that start tomorrow, ick! It's going better than last time though....

I tried my loom... your work looks so cool... I like my little loom... seems a lot can happen sort of quickly, unless you get real fancy... I just love fiber... but I am feeling excited about clay too.. that will be crushed next time I fire... ah... such is life...

Judi I feel the same way, but it seems like I can do both without too much trouble. Definitely a shorter learning curve with weaving, have fun!

I was recently asked what I want for Christmas, "a day off" was my reply. It's really important.
That's a really pretty table runner, it would also look great under one of your barns.
