New Etsy Listings

Thanks Etsy shoppers! I added a few new pendants to my shop today. If you keep buying them, I'll keep making them :)
They are only $10, quite a bargain considering the time it took me to make them last night! Still, I'm not a professional jeweler and I use nice but not terribly expensive materials to make them. The best thing is the raku pendant, these are some really pretty ones.
Who wants one!?

Very pretty, I'm sure you'll sell them all.

Thanks Lori, it's nice to take a break and make some simple things every now and then, it's always a plus when those simple things sell well!

After a couple of days to consider it, I'm going to weigh in on Raku.I think it became trendy at some point.Like many trends, it became very popular too quickly and a lot of people were running around acting like they invented it and firing anything that didn't move in their little Raku kilns. The problem was that some people weren't paying attention to form and function. The result was a lot of bad pots. That's my understanding of where the bias comes from anyway. There is a lot of beautiful Raku pottery being made including yours. Like any other process, with good design and a high level of craftsmanship the results can be stunning. If people skip these two points they are trying in vain to make a silk purse etc...

Dennis, I think you summed it up very well. If you google raku there is a lot of really bed stuff out there. For beginners it is an exciting and instantly gratifying process and a little gly pot almost looks good, like a shiny penny. The copper raku has also become the synonymous look which is mostly really bad. I don't care, I like it, like the process, the cracks, the fire, all of it! I'm gonna do it!

Thank you for getting my butt moving! I still work with raku horsehair pots, the weaving on those pots is a nice compliment :) Dennis is right on but alas I too still reduce in my garbage cans proudly........
