Beginnings.......

Yesterday I simmered a brew of eucalyptus, chai tea, rusty things I found in the Uwharries, tumeric and moss and tossed in some bundles of white linen wrapped around rusty pieces of tin and tied with cord. The house smelled like a forest. I have no idea what I am doing, but it's fun to explore this new world.

The brew gave me ribbons of yellow, green and lavender

More treasure from the Uwharries. Clay and weaving and nature will soon converge, I'm just not sure how yet. That is also simmering......
I filled up the last page of my journal and got a new refill. Those scary white pages......

Wesley suggested I just open it up and start on any random page, not the first page, it's too intimidating, all that white blank space, offering promises of grand ideas and amazing results. The middle someplace sounds more comfortable.

This morning I was sitting at the kitchen table with my dye brew and my ribbons of linen, and my box of moss and sticks and Wesley came in. She looked around and said, "I'm just thinking, what a long path it is from here back to your loom."  It seems like not matter what I do, it's always a long path back. But the journey is filled with so much wonder, isn't it?! I'm beginning again........

ha, "those scary white pages" indeed!
nice post!

I once had tea that a friend brough back from CHina. It was called something like "dark forest after summer rain" or some such. It tasted a little "mossy" and was very good.

I'm loving the whole 'cloth...natural dyes...and clay' direction! I can't wait to see how it turns out. I've had a tin can soaking in tea for two weeks now so I can try some of Jude Hill's methods of dyeing. Exciting stuff!

bubble, bubble, toil and trouble, cauldron burn and fire....it's getting downright witchy over at your place. The fiber crowd is a whole other species to explore!
