Welcome to North Carolina

I borrowed this image from the Alchemy of Clay blog here. Great way to sum up what's going on in our state capital right now!
This pretty much speaks for the state of North Carolina these days. I am so ashamed to live in this state where a bunch of old sneaky white men (or "good old boys" as they say here in the south) are just criminals and dragging this state back into the dark ages.

When are we ever going to start electing lawmakers that actually create legislation that support someone other than rich white slimy men!? Here we are supposedly celebrating our "great nation" this week, when in fact the nation we are celebrating is being run by a bunch of self serving greedy ass politicians that could give a rat's ass about me.

I know that abortion, gay rights, and religion are touchy subjects and everyone is certainly welcome to their own opinions, so I won't go there, but for me personally, I don't appreciate some old white dudes preaching conservative christianity to me while deciding what I can do with my own body. Fuck off!

The photo says it all. I have never had it clearly explained why others think they have the right to tell me what to do with my body, or what I should or should not believe.

I will climb down from my rather large hobby horse before I write something really dumb!

Hi Tracey...I found that pic on FaceBook, so technically, someone else is the source. SO glad to share it. SO not glad to have these issues. And if anyone ever posts the chronology of how that last bill got passed about women's health choices...how it was brought out in the Senate at 8:00 pm on Tues, after the Moral Monday public had gone home...let me know!

Every time I go to North Carolina (whether in reality or via the internet) I spend time with wonderful people who are kind, compassionate, forward thinking...just wonderful people. Then I read the news and I think "who are those other ass holes and what are they doing to my friends state?!"

I saw that sign on FB too... funny and very sad all at the same time. It's always a shock to me when I read what direction a vote went when everyone I know feels the exact opposite. I guess the reality is, that we are still outnumbered.

Or a Democrat, a union member, or you are one of those elitists who finished High School.

Couldn't agree more - a bunch of privileged, greedy, compassionless politicians feeding off the fear and judgment of those whose votes they want to maintain their power and greed. One day, and one can only hope, they'll find that the only real power is the power that is within - the one no one can give you or take way

oh, Tracey. Catching up here...reading from bottom to top...through mended hearts, woven pretty, and dream fish...to run into this- ugh. the spirits I know in NC are sensitive, creative loving souls, such as yours...it is hard to imagine how artists thrive under the thumbs of such people. You need your own dream fish! love to you.

Don't they just piss you off! The good news is that everyone i know and read about from good old NC seem to be the complete opposite of these dicks at the top (well, as they see it.. they're much lower down the real power pile. The real money-men sit comfortably on top of that one!.. they also seem to be slimey old white guys!!)
