We have been having some rather nice temperatures here in Chapel Hill and the rain seems to come mostly late at night now, so we have been able to have meals out on the deck, which I love. The artisan bread in five minutes is still happening and I actually have enough willpower to have ONE slice of it while watching my family finish it off. That's ok, one bite for taste, one bite for texture, and one bite because I want it! That's all I need. I am still on track with mostly fruits and veggies. Weigh in tomorrow.....
I finished up the blue scarf today. It's pretty, there are still mistakes, but not many. I did the math right for the first time since I started taking classes and learning to weave. The huck lace pattern was from a magazine article, I should have sampled it before I wove the whole thing, I'm not real thrilled with the pattern, though it's nice, just not as nice as I want it.... I'm getting there..... but the yarn, omg! Linen and organic cotton, so soft and wonderful!
Wesley and I have been hitting all the thrift stores looking for cheap furniture for her house. I have been having more luck than her. I found this chest yesterday at Goodwill for $4, yep!
I cleaned it up, put a coat of wax on it, and it is now my yarn chest......love.
We did find a desk at the Habitat Restore (love that place for everything!). It's solid pine, and very sturdy, which is good. The drawer pulls are ugly, we will get some really cool ones after it's painted. I just noticed I pulled out the center drawer. I was trying to figure out why it looked odd, ha!
I had these paints left over from various room colors Wesley has had over the years, and so I am going to layer them and sand through them. It will be great!
Sweet, sweet child..... two weeks.......

I have an antique cedar chest with a candle box inside it. Someone painted it it yellow, many, many years ago, and the paint is now worn. I love it, despite the fact that whoever painted it probably diminished it's value (if there ever was any!).
2 weeks- I know the counting..my girl called tonight and may come home for 5 days in September..be still my heart <3

Michele, I think we are lucky people back in the day chose to paint things, so we get those beautiful patinas later on. At the time, I'm sure it seemed liked ruining a nice wood though. My grandmother did lots of that!

wow- $4 for that chest? And a great desk. Didn't have that kind of luck at the Habitat Restore in Asheville this past weekend. And amazing that you can eat outside for dinner-- I can hardly be in my garage past 6 pm--- b/c of the mosquitos. Even with repellant on....
