They aren't my politics, but the awareness stuck. The only problem is that by the time I was legally able to vote I was so burnt out from working on elections that I was done! You don't want to see how bills or sausages are made... true!smartcathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15430370214403895826noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3393740465996795163.post-49787564782082262482012-10-20T19:27:22.338-07:002012-10-20T19:27:22.338-07:00thanks for the reminder. wish that election day c...thanks for the reminder. wish that election day came sooner! ready for this to be over. then again, I might have to move to canada if romney wins. he scares me a bit.... I know quite a few people (my mother included) who feel that their political stance is somehow a super-private thing...which seems supremely strange to me. Lee and I are CBC radio junkies, and Canada's Arts & Culture radio host Jian Ghomeshi gave a little essay about how the US presidential debates are not just an American political thing, but have become a worldwide pop-culture phenomenon...binders full of women! And it's so true. We're all biting our nails and hoping of course (well, our family is, anyway), that Obama will win. I understand where Wesley and Gerry are coming from (I think). I'm not sure any of it really matters, and they probably are all the same...Maybe I feel about politics a bit the way I feel about astrology. It's interesting, and fun, and maybe meaningful in some kind of abstract way...But yeah. Obama just has so much dignity. Even during the first debate which everyone thought Obama "lost", he just seemed kind of weary of all the bullshit in a very real way--and dignified throughout. Romney just exudes insincerity, to me. Wow, gee. I didn't realize I had so many opinions about US politics. Um...go canada! :)yolande clarkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16545094388283415651noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3393740465996795163.post-86185667434299352022012-10-20T05:04:59.597-07:002012-10-20T05:04:59.597-07:00I voted early, also. I think I would kind of like being part of the event on the actual day, but my election day polling place is miles away, whereas City Hall - where early voting happens - is a short walk.
I like voting; I can never understand when people don't bother. We drove to the county building with our OBAMA magnet proudly on the back of my car!
As for Romney... a couple of years ago I thought he might not be a bad prez. As you may know he owns a vacation home in Wolfeboro, NH where my sister and her family lives. My niece worked for the Romney's throughout high school, taking care of their horses in the summer. They treated her very well and gave her a generous gift to help her with her first year of college. Once this campaign got into full swing, the more I learned about him, the more I knew he wasn't who I wanted in the White House.
I still don't feel I was very informed about the governor's race in NC... and I can't say publicly how I chose some of the other candidates ;-)
Michèle Hastingshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11346907762804197879noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3393740465996795163.post-49811954422106408592012-10-19T19:08:19.014-07:002012-10-19T19:08:19.014-07:00I did my part to bring Ohio to her senses.It's...I did my part to bring Ohio to her senses. It's good to have it over with.I'm sure all of Mitt's Super Pacs will quit calling with their lies now that my vote is not in play.Dennis Allenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01170187288282755570noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3393740465996795163.post-47495380225085150062012-10-19T18:11:27.213-07:002012-10-19T18:11:27.213-07:00oh, i've known romney's type, too. ugh. i...oh, i've known romney's type, too. ugh. i do miss going to vote, but love the convenience of the mail in that the city does now.
& about your drawers & doors! i had all kinds of imaginings of what to do with those- from being able to create little scenes inside, to having my ashes rest in such a great drawer. very cool direction for you to possibly be going in (the drawer/doors, not my ashes!).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3393740465996795163.post-29080313827535045562012-10-19T17:35:56.557-07:002012-10-19T17:35:56.557-07:00Unfortunately.
