My problem is I'll probably die in a rickety old shack, not be put in one after! Still, no need to move me, just make sure the kids fix the roof.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17496760267994465209noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3393740465996795163.post-15425008342320611782012-09-27T11:21:02.908-07:002012-09-27T11:21:02.908-07:00I love people taking care of the dead, Susan!

Apparently these were made mostly to honor the person buried, and usually they were for small children, young mothers or "special" people. I had never seen them before, one more thing to love about bloggers!Tracey Broomehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14560971496423789576noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3393740465996795163.post-50859413271841980852012-09-27T07:33:29.064-07:002012-09-27T07:33:29.064-07:00I have a brother who lives in Alaska and once when...I have a brother who lives in Alaska and once when I visited him his wife pointed out spirit house graves (I think we were in Eklutna). The natives started using the houses when they converted to Russian Orthodox religion since it forbade cremation, which is what they had done prior to the arrival of the Russians.<br />I didn't know there were these house graves in Louisiana, now I have to google it!Michèle Hastingshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11346907762804197879noreply@blogger.com
