We went into the bakery and watched as they pulled bread out of the wood ovens. The smells! Fresh bread baking, is there a better aroma!
and these cakes, yum!
a little ice cream for dessert
It was interesting to see the architecture, because the play that I am propping right now takes place in London during the 1600's and the architecture was very similar.
We had a great day, a nice ending to my birthday weekend. One of the best things was seeing Wesley's first film shorts that she has made in her first 30 days of film school. They were really well done, visual, great music, funny, interesting. I think she has a bright future as a film maker. Right now she is thinking that her concentration studies will be screen writing and cinematography. Can't wait to see where this goes. She is off to a good start so far!
Hope everyone is having a wonderful rainy weekend. Is it wet enough for all of you?! I know I have had enough, clay is not drying in this wet stuff. I am planning a full week in the studio, nothing is on my calendar but a production meeting Monday morning, so I hope to get a LOT done for the shows coming up! Happy week to all.

looks like a fabulous day well spent!
Nice day. :) There's a hotel in an old warehouse/factory right near Old Salem that we stay at when we need a stop in the area. The best thing about it is they take dogs!
GO Wesley!!
Hey Laura, it was a great day!
Anna, I would love to know the name of the hotel in case we ever need to stay there, YES! Go Wesley!
I spent much time in Williamsburg VA all my life and it is still a favorite place. It is the first place I saw clay and glass being made.
I think of Old Salem as the little sister to Williamsburg.
Those breads and cakes at Salem can not be beat.
Looks like a great weekend.
But the wet can go now- I want some sun.
Hey Meredith, I have never been to Williamsburg although Gerry's brother and his family live there sometimes. I have a bad spoiled brat memory of the place, my parents wanted to take me there when I was in college, and I wanted to be with my boyfriend (Gerry) bad on me, I'm sure I hurt their feelings.... I need so many do overs! Yes enough of the wet, we are never satisfied with the weather are we!
How cool about Wes' film projects -I'm a bit jealous!! Don't we all wish we could be in art/film school again?! I do -without the student loans though -ha!! Great photos -seems very CALMING :)
Hey Cindy, I would LOVE to go to this school, they have a production and design program that would be the most fun thing in the world to do! There are some very cool kids there
I KNOW, Linda! I could spend all day there taking photos for inspiration. Look forward to seeing what you do with it all :)
wow... those pictures are gorgeous, especially the one of you and your girl. I'm headed to W-S next week; will be sure to get a loaf of bread. :) thanks for that reminder! peace-
I can see why you like Old Salem, with the architecture and the old weathered surfaces of the buildings and wood brings to mind the sensibilities your sculptures.
