I also got this piece finished. It has been in my head for awhile.
I went to see a performance by the Alvin Ailey dancers and the dance Revelations was breathtaking. There is one scene when the dancers all raise their hands together and all I saw was hands coming out of the roof of a barn. I envision lots of hands coming out at some point, but I'm going to start with three and see if they survive. I want to raku this piece, it's scary to think about, but it might work, no harm trying, this one doesn't have a destination yet. Since I am left handed I sort of like the three left hands, I could get all metaphorical if I did that sort of thing :)

LOVE,
love things that tumble from one's head onto the work table :)
I have a lot of tumbling, haha!
They are both fantastic! I love the inspiration for your reaching barn....just love it
Your principal and friend will be thrilled with this piece.
Ya done good gal and I love the new barn also. I think you have a new series started?
Inspiration!
I am partial to left hands too. :-)
Wonderful barns - and the reaching hands, fabulous! At first I thought the reaching hands were a part of the principal's barn - hands of affirmation, of students raising their hands, ... but I see it's two different works. Hope the kiln is kind :)! And your photo of the blue iris - beautiful.

Yeeeee Haw! Its alive. I'm so glad!
What a wonderful retirement gift for Wesley's old principal - lucky man!
Beats a gold watch, that's for sure :)
Love the energy and symbolism of the hands reaching through the roof... and beyond.
Hey Susan, it is alive, isn't it, haha!
Vicki, I think this will mean a lot to the principal, he is a very sensitive man and loved all of the students so much.
They are both fantastic. It's good to see you getting inspired to do these again. And it's okay if that inspiration wains again in the future, sometimes our souls need a rest.
Lori, the good thing is that when I made these I realized I am not quite done with this form, I enjoyed making them. I was beginning to think that I might just be tired of making this form, but that doesn't seem to be the case. It just needs to morph somehow.... this is a start!
beautiful. wow! i've come to think that being metaphorical is just what artists do well. :)
