I finished up the vase, took me all day. But I love, love, love it!! Now, please God, let it survive a Raku firing, doubtful, but I'm hopeful!! It probably weighs about 10 lbs. now with all the little heads on it.........
And the jug thing? Forget it! Not wasting the clay!

Ha, how brave to show the crumpled one. the top one is great, I hope it makes it too - how do you decide whether to raku or high fire? Are the heads solid or hollow? can't wait to see it glazed. very nice work and I bet a lot of work too.
Linda, I used Raku clay, so I can't high fire. I could use stains but I'm going to try Raku. I put everything on really well, so it has a good chance. The heads are solid balls, I used to make these with my kids classes and have been thinking for a while about putting them on big pots. I should make more, but I have to be in the mood to do this kind of work.
very beatrice wood, maybe you should lustre fire it...
Luster! That's a great idea, but I don't know anything about that. Guess I should do some research.
Great way to just move on and let your mind and hands go and do things!
Love it!
All those heads look great on your pot. Can't wait to see it fired.
Hi Tracey, just been catching up. This piece is really cool. Outrageous goings on at Clayworks, poor you.
Thanks Meredith, Vicki and Doug! Doug, I thought about your son's great sculptures when I was doing this, you guys should do a collaboration :)
Love the vase. It reminds me of the animal mummies in Nov National Geographic. Check it out. xo
Tracey--I think you should not risk the raku firing. Fire it low fire. It is wonderful.
Awwww, I'm gonna go for it! It's not precious and you should see the things I put in a Raku that people tell me not to! I can always make another, that's the only thing I like anyway, hate the glazing, firing, selling. I just want to make the stuff! It's fun to see how far I can push it :) Laura, we have that Nat'l Geo, you are right, they do look like the little animal mummies. Wes has been hoarding the mag in her room so I had not seen it yet.
